If you’re a big fan of Final Fantasy, then you might have already heard of Chocobo Racing when it was first released in the Playstation One.

It was a classic game that featured playable characters from the Final Fantasy world and Chocobo universe. Now it’s back with a vengeance with the announcement of Square Enix developing the Chocobo Racing 3D for the Nintendo 3DS.

At first glance, the game plays a lot like Mario Kart 3D which features power-ups and special items on the race track, but as a fan of the original Chocobo Racing from the Playstation era, I would have to say it’s something different.

The powerups and magics are unique and are also related to the Final Fantasy universe. They have firaga, blizzaga and thundaga spells. The playable characters range from Moogles, Chocobos, Black Mages, Bahamut and Behemoth. There were some hidden characters before such as Squall from Final Fantasy VIII but we have yet to hear from Squar Enix on the details of this game.

Hopefully, they will feature more hidden characters. With the possibility of playing this with friends through the multiplayer wifi capability, this will be a really good 3DS game. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Nintendo 3DS and experience this.
