Nintendo 3DS

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty damned excited about the Nintendo 3DS. So what exactly is the 3DS you say?

The Nintendo 3DS is the newly announced portable gaming system of Nintendo that is capable of displaying 3D view without the need of special 3D glasses. This is revolutionary both with the concept and the hardware in the 3DS System.

Hardware Screen

The hardware measures around 5.3 inches wide and 2.9 inches long. The depth of the portable system is 0.8 inches deep. It’s big enough to be able to play great games but also light enough to be portable. It’s weight is around 8 ounces. Very light.

Just like with the old DS and DS Lite portable systems, the 3DS has 2 screens – One on top and another touch screen screen on the bottom that usually has other controls for the game. The top screen is the one that is capable of displaying in 3D. Screensize is 3.53 inches wide with 800×240 pixel resolution.

The 3D screen works by displaying 2 – 400×240 pixels for each of your eyes thus allowing the 3D visuals to materialize. The touch screen LCD is 3.02 inches wide with 320×240 pixel resolution.

You can control the 3D effect by adjusting the 3D Dept Slider which is located in the upper right side of the 3DS screen. This is a great move by Nintendo giving you the option to adjust the 3D effect or remove it completely if you don’t want it anymore.

Features

The 3DS has one inner camera and two outer cameras with 640×480 pixel resolution. It also has a built in microphone usually used for games that need you to interact via speaking to the gaming system.

According to Nintendo, the Nintendo 3DS game card will be 2 GB at max during the launching this 2011. This can be used to install games and save your game progress.
